Dr Ephraim Mhlanga is a Programme Specialist: Quality Assurance at Saide. Ephraim has supported a number of countries in Southern Africa in developing quality assurance frameworks for both contact and Open and Distance Learning institutions, including the development of quality criteria. On behalf of the Commonwealth of Learning, Ephraim has developed the Quality Assurance of Blended and Online Learning course, which is a self-paced course that helps educational institutions develop and roll out quality blended and online courses. Ephraim has also facilitated several quality assurance courses on behalf of the Commonwealth of Learning.
In his quality assurance role at Saide, Ephraim conducted institutional audits and participated in programme accreditation panels for several higher education institutions in Southern Africa. He played a central role in the development of the African Council for Distance Education (ACDE) Quality Assurance Toolkit and its subsequent validation in the different regions of Africa. Ephraim holds a PhD in Quality Assurance in Higher Education from the University of the Witwatersrand.
