It also serves a diverse range of learners in terms of their abilities, pace of learning and motivation to learn. Unlike open universities, open schools often enrol learners who are younger and who face challenges with independent learning. Apart from age, open schools also enrol learners who have other commitments, like employment. These learners need to be managed and supported carefully if they are to be motivated to study, commit to their studies and realise success. As teachers who engage with the learners on a regular basis, you need to know appropriate systems that should be put in place to facilitate meaningful learning by this diverse group of learners.\n<\/p>\n<p>In Unit Two, you learnt how assessment processes can be used as a way of supporting learning and not just for grading purposes. In this section of the course, we look at how you can manage communication with students to enhance learner support. You need to manage and administer your communication support services effectively enough for you to keep in touch with all learners and know how they are progressing with their studies.
