In many countries, the curriculum in open schooling is aligned with the national curriculum offered in the conventional school system, developed centrally in the Ministry of Education. Often the school curriculum is developed in line with national priorities and needs. A key quality assurance consideration in open schooling is the extent to which the curriculum meets national curriculum requirements, (particularly in terms of the core curriculum). To achieve equivalence with formal schooling, ODFL providers should deliberately align their curriculum for open schooling with government planned curriculum. The difference lies only in the way the curriculum is delivered. However, in order to address the needs of diverse learners and potential employers, open schools often offer more flexible forms of curriculum. This unit discusses how open schooling content can be broadened to accommodate a wide range of learner needs whilst at the same time meeting national curriculum requirements.\n<\/p>\n
