Now that you’ve explored everyday technologies to augment your classroom teaching, it’s time to apply these tools in your own Pacific TVET context! This learning challenge is designed to help you practice using the technologies covered in Module 0.

Complete the activity below and submit your work as a PDF on Moodle to demonstrate how you can enhance your teaching with technology; click here to submit.

Activity: Select one technology from Module 0—choosing from online resources, smartphone tools, or tablet applications—to enhance a short demonstration (5-10 minutes) of a trade-related task or concept, and create a simple lesson plan around it. Use the Padagogy Wheel to guide your choice based on your demonstration’s learning goals. For example, you might demonstrate a safety procedure in construction or a recipe step in catering, using a technology to make the demonstration more engaging or effective for your students. Your lesson plan should include:

  • The trade and task/concept you will demonstrate (e.g., “Construction: Demonstrating a Safety Check for Tools”).
  • The technology you chose and a brief description (e.g., “an online video resource”).
  • 3-4 simple steps describing how you will use the technology in your demonstration.
  • A reflection on how this technology improves your demonstration and student learning (100-150 words).

When you are happy with your lesson plan, upload it to the DS4TC21 Moodle site and earn a badge.

If you’re not sure about any aspect of the learning challenge, please post them to the DS4C21 Moodle site. [Moodle Enrolment key: ds4tc21 (all lowercase)]
