Activity: Design a short assessment for learners in your trade area that focuses on equipment safety. The assessment should reflect real workplace tasks and discourage plagiarism. This must be designed as an individual assessment (not a group or collaborative task). Your goal is to ensure that each student can demonstrate their own understanding and skills.

Your submission should include the following (1–2 pages):

  1. Assessment Task Description: Write a short and clear description of what the learner must do. E.g., “Create a safety checklist for operating a circular saw in your local workshop.”
  2. Assessment Format: Describe how the student will present their work. Choose the format that makes sense for your trade area and explain it clearly so learners know what they need to produce. Will they:
    • Write a short safety guide?
    • Create a checklist?
    • Draw a labelled diagram or poster?
    • Give a short oral explanation or video presentation?
  3. Workplace Relevance: Briefly explain how this task reflects a real task or situation in your trade area. How does it encourage learners to apply their own understanding, skills, or local workplace knowledge, rather than copying from external sources?
  4. Anti-Plagiarism Strategies: Describe at least one approach you will use to discourage or detect plagiarism (e.g., follow-up questions).
  5. Reflection (80–100 words): Explain why this is an effective and fair assessment for your learners. How does it promote both honesty and meaningful trade learning?

The following marking rubric will be used to assess your submission. Please refer to it as you design your task to ensure your work meets the expected criteria.
